Although many parts of Tucson already got some overnight rain, Tropical Storm Newton continues to approach from the south, with plenty of rainfall and gusty winds expected throughout the day.

Most areas around town will receive a good amount of rainfall today, with some areas receiving periods of heavy rains, with the potential for localized and even flash flooding to develop.

Strong winds are also possible with gusts up to 45 mph possible in the valley areas near and to the south of I-10, and the potential for winds above 60 mph occurring in the mountains and over higher ground.
