Housing experts will gather next Saturday to provide Pima County homeowners and first-time buyers with information about purchasing and keeping an affordable and quality home.

On Saturday, June 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Pima County Housing Center will hold its annual Homeownership Fair at 801 W. Congress St., in the Menlo Park Neighborhood.

The event will offer workshops on budgeting, credit repair and down-payment assistance, and provide resources for current homeowners and new buyers, according to a news release from Pima County.

Homeowners and first-time buyers will have an opportunity to meet with counselors from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, credit experts, real estate agents, mortgage lenders and housing experts from the nonprofit sector, the release said.

Attendees will also get do-it-yourself advice and energy saving tips from employees of Tucson Electric Power and Lowe’s Home Improvement, according to the release.

Children will get a chance to meet Pima County’s McGruff the Crime Dog and Tucson Water’s mascot, Pete the Beak. There will also be a drawing for prizes provided by exhibitors, including Freddie Mac and the Southwest Fair Housing Council.

Refreshments will be served. Admission is free. Parking is available at the Pima County Housing Center and across the street.

Event sponsors include the Community Investment Corporation, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, the Apex Real Estate Network, Guild Mortgage, Chase, Loan Depot, the National Bank of Arizona, Nova Home Loans and Real Pros Real Estate.
