A storm from the Pacific Northwest that hit Nevada and is moving into Arizona may bring snow flurries Tuesday morning.

There is a 35 percent chance that Tucsonans may wake up to some snow in the foothills of the Santa Catalinas and Rincon mountains, said Jim Meyer, a National Weather Service meteorologist.

The snow flurries may fall as low as 2,500 to 2,800 feet.

Mount Lemmon is expected to receive between 2 and 4 inches of snow, Meyer said.

Snow is not likely to fall in the city, but light rain could fall, causing icy conditions, said Meyer, warning motorists to use precaution while driving.

The snow or rain could fall between sunrise to 11 a.m., Meyer said.

He said there is a 40 percent chance of snow flurries from Green Valley down to Nogales.

A mixture of rain and snow is predicted to be over with by midafternoon.

Tuesday’s high is expected to hit up to 50 degrees in the afternoon, and the morning low is predicted at 32 degrees.

Wednesday through Friday it is expected to be cool but dry with highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s in the Tucson area, Meyer said.

This weekend it is predicted to be dry, with the highs in the lower 60s and lows in the 30s.
