An SUV and a bicyclist crashed in Sahuarita Friday morning, leaving the bicyclist in critical condition, police said.

Officers with the Sahuarita Police Department responded Oct. 13 at about 12:30 p.m. to a report of an injury collision near South La Cañada Drive and Sahuarita Boulevard, near the entrance to Rancho Resort, said Sgt. Michael Falquez in a news release.

The crash occurred north of the intersection and Rural Metro Fire Department paramedics took the bicyclist to a hospital.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Neither speed or alcohol appear to be factors in the crash, Falquez said.

Investigators ask that anyone who witnessed the crash call 911 and request to speak with an on-duty officer of the Sahuarita Police Department. A person can also call the department's tip line at 520-445-7847 and leave contact information.
