Gas Pump

Gas prices were relatively flat this week across Arizona and the nation as oil prices remained subdued, AAA says.

The statewide average gas price was fractionally lower on the week at $3.48 per gallon of regular on Friday, while the national average rose 2 cents to $3.52 per gallon.

Tucson had the state's lowest metro average gas price at $3.40 per gallon, down about a penny on the week.

Scottsdale had the state's priciest gas at an average $3.56 per gallon.

Though gas prices have dipped below $3 in some states, storm-related increases in the Midwest boosted the national average, AAA said.

Crude-oil costs recently dipped below $80 per barrel and are $10 lower than in April, which could help keep gas prices down for most of the nation despite a demand uptick, the group says.
