Giving back in Southern Arizona

Buffalo Exchange: In honor of its 50th anniversary, Buffalo Exchange is giving back with 50 Acts of Kindness. Throughout the year, Buffalo Exchange locations nationwide will give back through weekly acts of kindness in partnership with nonprofit organizations. Efforts include running donation drives for shelters, sponsoring animals at rescues and hosting shopping events benefiting organizations. Planned events in Tucson include:

A donation drive for Emerge Center Against Domestic Abuse in August

Volunteering at Pima Animal Care Center

A $5,000 donation to the Women’s Foundation of the State of Arizona’s Unidas program, which teaches teens about philanthropy

Doubling its Tokens for Bags donations for a week in March. The Tokens for Bags program offers customers a 5-cent charity token to donate to one of three nonprofits instead of using a single-use plastic bag. Nonprofits that will benefit are Emerge, No Kill Pima County and Tucson Clean and Beautiful.

Pool & Hot Tub Alliance: The Pool Hot Tub Alliance of Southern Arizona awarded the YMCA of Southern Arizona $2,600 for swimming lesson scholarships. The funds were raised throughout 2023 from various association activities with the intent to make a donation for the scholarships. The funds the chapter raised were matched by PHTA’s foundation, Step Into Swim.

H.S. Lopez Family Foundation: The H.S. Lopez Family Foundation has recently awarded grants of $689,786 to local organizations. The foundation funds Arizona organizations four times a year that focus on health, education or welfare. Recent grant recipients include:
