Gas Pump

Gas prices slipped across Arizona and the nation this week, and tepid demand and stable oil costs may cause pump prices to slide further, AAA says.

The statewide average gas price dropped about 3 cents in a week to $3.46 per gallon of regular on Friday, while the national average fell about 2 cents to $3.43 per gallon.

Tucson's average gas price was down nearly 4 cents on the week at $3.42 per gallon.

The West Valley in the Phoenix metro area had the state's lowest average gas price at $3.40 per gallon, while Scottsdale had the highest at $3.58 per gallon.

Demand for gas edged up this week but was relatively flat, and oil prices moderated after a jump early in the week, AAA said.
