Sheena Conner: Sheena Conner, Cox government affairs manager over market expansion and growth, has been selected by the Arizona Center for Rural Leadership to participate in their flagship program CENTRL, Class 33.

The center works to equip and empower leaders to meet the needs of rural Arizona.

One of 16 participants selected, Conner will take part in seminars on topics including effective communication, natural resources and the rural economy, state budget basics and more.

A resident of Vail, Conner’s journey into public service began as a volunteer firefighter in a rural community in Oregon. Most recently, she was appointed as the Pima County Fair commissioner for a four-year term set to start in 2025. She is interested in bridging the digital divide in Southern and rural Arizona.

University of Arizona: The University of Arizona is one of 209 colleges and universities featured in The Princeton Review’s β€œBest Value Colleges.”

The Princeton Review chose the schools for the 2024 list based on data from its surveys of administrators at more than 650 colleges. The ranking uses more than 40 data points to tally return on investment in the areas of academics, cost/affordability, financial aid, career preparation, graduation rates and student debt.

UA received a score of 88 out of a possible 99. The Princeton Review does not rank the Best Value Colleges hierarchically on a single list.

The ranking also evaluated data from The Princeton Review’s surveys of students, as well as data from PayScale.com’s surveys of alumni about their starting and mid-career salaries and job satisfaction.

Tucson International Airport: Tucson Airport Authority President and CEO Danette Bewley and the Tucson International Airport have been awarded the Federal Aviation Administration Airport Safety Award for the Western Pacific Region.

The award recognizes an airport’s contribution to safety, improvements and fostering efficient operations.

Bewley was recognized for her leadership as the TAA executes its Airfield Safety Enhancement Program, a news release said.

The program aims to improve airfield geometry through relocation and replacement of a parallel runway and infrastructure improvements that support commercial, general aviation and military operations.

A large equestrian center and luxury home are on the market for $4 million with a potential for buyer to continue running the lucrative horse boarding business or to scrap the 18 acres and sell the property to developers to build houses.
