Business awards earned in Southern Arizona

Ameriprise Financial: Private wealth advisors Matt MacLean and Michael Gombrich and financial advisors Garrett Smith and John Snyder with Affirm Wealth Advisors have been named recipients of the 2023 Five Star Wealth Manager award by Five Star Professional. The award goes to less than 7% of the wealth managers in the region based on research administered by Five Star Professional, a third-party research firm. To receive the honor, a wealth manager must meet 10 criteria associated with providing quality services to clients including client retention rates, client assets administered, firm review and favorable regulatory and complaint history. MacLean has 19 years of experience in the financial services industry, followed by Smith with 12 years, Gombrich with 10 years and Snyder with 8 years. Affirm is a private practice of Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC.

Safety Health and Environmental Consulting LLC: Johanna O’Dell of Safety Health and Environmental Consulting LLC, in Tucson was recently named to the National Small Business Association Leadership Council. NSBA is the nation’s oldest small-business advocacy organization. O’Dell is a Certified Safety Professional and Registered Safety Professional with 20 years of experience in environmental, health and safety. She has worked in the fields of pharmaceutical, environmental consulting, automotive, manufacturing, chemical, oil and gas, construction, technology, mining, and local and federal government. O’Dell joined the NSBA Leadership Council as part of her efforts to tackle the many critical issues facing small business, including tax reform, regulatory restraint, health care costs and how access to capital will impact small business.

Eller College of Management: News & World Report released its 2024 Best Business School Rankings for undergraduate programs, listing several of the University of Arizona Eller College of Management’s programs among them. Eller’s MIS program was named No. 2 on the public ranking list and No. 3 on the overall ranking, while the entrepreneurship program was listed as No. 8 on the public ranking and No. 17 on the overall. Other Eller programs receiving high listings on this year’s report include undergraduate business, accounting, marketing and economics.
