Long Realty: Long Realty’s Oro Valley office delivered 300 new books to Mesa Verde Elementary School, in the Amphitheater School District, as part of its fourth annual school book drive. Dubbed “Long Loves Literature,” this initiative was spearheaded by Mark Gathmann, a sales agent at the Oro Valley office, along with the support of Oro Valley office administrator Sandy Boyd. The school’s teachers and staff collaborated on book wish lists. Long Realty agents and staffers contributed their own funds to purchase the books.
Buffalo Wild Wings: Local Buffalo Wild Wings locations are raising money for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson through the month of October. Any guest who donates $5 to the Buffalo Wild Wings Foundation at the register will receive a coupon for six free boneless wings to redeem at their next visit. It’s part of the company’s mission to raise more than $1 million to “help build communities where all kids can thrive, compete and belong to a team.” Donations can also be made online at foundation.buffalowildwings.com. Tucson Federal Credit Union: TFCU employees gave back on TFCU Gives Day by completing projects on Oct. 9 at the Chinese Cultural Center for Ben’s Bells, Beads of Courage and Gospel Rescue Mission.
Spirit Halloween: Spirit of Children — Spirit Halloween’s charitable foundation — donated costumes and other Halloween accessories to hospitalized children at Diamond Children’s Medical Center in Tucson. For every purchase made in Southern Arizona, Spirit Halloween stores donate 10% of the proceeds to Diamond Children’s.
Interfaith Community Services: The ICS annual Fall Food Drive is underway through Oct. 31. This year’s effort is larger with the help of partners providing collection sites, including Edward Jones Financial Advisor offices, Town of Oro Valley buildings and 10 Pima County Public Library branches. ICS welcomes donations of pantry staples year-round but during the fall drive, it also asks for donations of holiday food items such as instant or fresh potatoes and yams, cranberry sauce, canned green beans and corn, cream of mushroom soup, boxed and bagged stuffing mix, gravy mix or canned gravy, and canned pumpkin. Find collection sites at icstucson.org/fallfood. Monetary donations are also being collected at icstucson.org/donate to buy whole turkeys and chickens to complete holiday meals.
