Gas prices

Gas prices declined across Arizona and the nation this week β€” with Tucson's average price dropping more than a dime β€” as crude-oil prices fell and demand remained weak, AAA says.

The statewide average gas price fell about a dime in a week to $3.79 per gallon of regular on Friday, while the national average slipped about a nickel to $3.39 per gallon.

Tucson kept the state's lowest average gas price at $3.49, down more than 11 cents from the prior week.

Scottsdale had the state's priciest gas at $4.02 per gallon.

After hovering around the $80-per-barrel mark for weeks, crude-oil prices dropped to the mid-$70 range this week, AAA noted.

And while the the U.S. Energy Information Administration didn't update its supply and demand estimate this week because of a computer system update, demand likely fell or was flat, AAA said.
