May the 4th be with you: 9 Tucson places to celebrate Star Wars Day

Calling all Star Wars lovers!
Your favorite day of the year is almost here — May 4. What started as a pun, "May the 4th be with you," has turned into a Star Wars-themed day of celebrations.
Here are eight places celebrating all things Star Wars on Saturday.
Bookmans Entertainment Exchange — 3733 W. Ina Road, 6230 E. Speedway, 3330 E. Speedway
UpdatedAt the northwest and east Bookmans locations, folks can visit on Saturday in their best Star Wars gear or costumes for 25% off toys and games.
There will also be a Star Wars selfie and costume contest at both locations. Post your photos to Instagram and tag @bookmansNW or @BookmansEast for a chance to win two passes to Phoenix Fan Fusion.
The Bookmans northwest location on Ina Road will also be celebrating Star Wars day with a day-long movie marathon.
The movie schedule is as follows:
- 12 p.m. — A New hope
- 2 p.m. — Empire Strikes Back
- 4 p.m. — Return of the Jedi
- 6 p.m. — The Force Awakens
- 8 p.m. — The Last Jedi
As for the east location, there will be trivia, games and crafts from 6 to 8 p.m.

And at the midtown location, 3330 E. Speedway, kids will get to enjoy story time by their favorite Star Wars characters starting at 10 a.m. There will also be crafts. Costumes are encouraged.

Desert Metal Craft — 544 E. 24th Street

Desert Metal Craft, Tucson's new blacksmithing school, is hosting an open house on Saturday. The theme? Star Wars, of course.
The event is open to all ages and will have a blacksmithing project for guests. Coffee and doughnuts will be available, in addition to kid-friendly activities.
And make sure to dress as your favorite Star Wars character. The person with the best costume will get a $50 Desert Metal Craft gift card.

Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium — 1601 E. University Boulevard

The events at the Flandrau Science Center & Planetarium at the UA will be free for the Chess and Science Festival.
A.E. Araiza / Arizona Daily StarStar Wars Day at Flandrau kicks off at 12 p.m. Saturday.
The event brings special pricing, being $4 admission for exhibits and $4 for planetarium shows all day.
The event will include a special Star Wars edition of a Flandrau planetarium show at 1 and 5 p.m., in addition to special-guided Star Wars activities and crafts from 1 to 4 p.m.
And if you dress up as your favorite Star Wars character, you'll be entered in a drawing to win a family membership to Flandrau.

The Parish — 6453 N. Oracle Road
UpdatedTo celebrate Star Wars Day, The Parish will be serving up two signature cocktails — the dark side and the force.
But to make things even better, the cocktails will be served in a souvenir tiki mug that you can take home. The drinks will only be available on Saturday while supplies last.

Cobra Arcade Bar — 63 E. Congress Street

The night will include a DJ from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. and drink specials all night, with no cover.

UpdatedVisit Movement Culture on Saturday for a Star Wars-themed JitterJive. Costumes are encouraged.
The event kicks off at 7 p.m. with a Star Wars swing dance lesson. Social dancing starts at 8 p.m.
There will also be a performance by CatAtomic and a DJ. Admission to the event costs $5 — cash only.
