Tucson speaks up: Letters to the editor for the week of Nov. 28, 2025
- Updated
Our weekly round-up of letters published in the Arizona Daily Star.

RE: Democratic Party has lost its way.
The author writes: "I trust this intervention has been helpful." Actually, it has. It reveals beyond question that folks critical of Democratic policies are largely prone to oversimplification and offensive exaggeration. Clearly, such crude logic is the bailiwick of grumblers who studiously avoid difficult issues that require discernment and perhaps personal sacrifice. That, and an empathetic disposition. The reasoning behind most progressive policies employs both hard and soft sciences, a reasonable grasp of American history, as well as humane ethics. The reasoning behind far too many policies of the right is: Follow the money.

Why is it all of a sudden acceptable to berate news reporters who are asking reasonable questions? Simply because of someone’s presidential position it is permitted. Since when is behavior such as this from the President acceptable?

I would like to recommend that MAGA believers join the thinking public and watch the new Ken Burns documentary on the American Revolution. It might help DJT supporters to realize how close Trump’s actions parallel those of George III.
You’ll learn that the “founding fathers” (and mothers) were slave holders, land speculators and very wealthy. Truth as shown on PBS, heard on NPR and seen in the Smithsonian exposes America with all its warts and yet America became a symbol for the world.
Watching this will require devoting 12 hours of your time to perhaps learning new facts about American history. I do believe however, that anyone with an IQ greater than a carrot (apologies to the carrot), should come away realizing that Trump’s ambition is counter to American ideals.
A new American Revolution anyone?
