A carjacked Ford Fusion struck a pole and knocked down power lines on South 12th Avenue and West Nebraska Street on Tuesday morning disrupting power in the area for several hours, said Chris Hawkins with the Tucson Police Department.
The car was stolen in a carjacking near the South Nogales Highway and East Drexel Road around 9:30 a.m., Hawkins said.
The vehicle was not being pursued as it traveled northbound on 12th Avenue, then it turned westbound on Nevada when it hit a power pole on the corner, he said. Three suspects fled on foot after the collision.
South 12th Avenue will be closed for several hours between West Irvington and West Bilby roads.
