Police are searching for a person who tried to rob a Tucson Circle K store atΒ 1735 W. SpeedwayΒ  and assaulted two employees early Monday morning, officials say.

The masked robber was armed, but not with a gun, said Ray Smith, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

The robber tried to steal money from the register about 6 a.m. but was unsuccessful. The robber then assaulted two Circle K employees, took items from the store and ran out, Smith said.

No more details were immediately available Monday morning. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME, the anonymous tipster line.
