Bradley Dean Lewis was convicted of killing his stepson in June 2018, when he invited him to come to visit him.

A Pima County jury has convicted a Green Valley man in the killing of his stepson, officials said.

Bradley Dean Lewis, 68, was convicted on second-degree murder in the June 25, 2018 fatal shooting of Russel Santon, 53, according to the Pima County Attorney's Office.Β

Lewis invited his stepson to visit from Las Vegas after not seeing him for years. The morning after his stepson's arrival, Lewis called 911 while highly intoxicated to report he shot someone inside his home, saying he had to do it, the Pima County Attorney's Office said. Lewis claimed he did not know the man.

Pima County Sheriff's deputies found Lewis sitting next to his stepson, who had been shot in the chest. Lewis later admitted that the man was his stepson.Β

Investigators discovered only Lewis' DNA on a gun that deputies found next to him on a table.

His sentencing is scheduled for May 28.
