State game officials are offering a reward of up to $1,500 for information leading to an arrest of a person who unlawfully killed a white-tailed deer doe in Benson.
Arizona Game and Fish Department officials found the doe dead off Interstate 10 last week, the department said in a news release.

“This was the act of a criminal, a person without regard for the state’s most precious resource, its wildlife,” Raul Vega, Regional Supervisor of Game and Fish in Tucson, said in the news release. “Although there was an archery deer season ongoing, the taking of female deer is illegal."
The department is asking anyone with information about the case to call the department’s Operation Game Thief Hotline at 800-352-0700 and reference OGT #20-000198. The call can be anonymous.
The maximum penalty for illegally killing wildlife is six months in jail and a $750 fine, the department said. The person responsible may also face civil penalties.
