UPDATE: Tucson police ID man fatally shot Thursday morning
Tucson police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened early Thursday morning at an apartment complex on 29th Street and S. Irving Ave.
Officers responded to calls of shots heard just before 1:30 Thursday morning, and en route, received a call from a woman saying her boyfriend had been shot, said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.
Officers found a man in his late 30s laying on the ground with obvious signs of gunshot trauma on the west side of an apartment complex at 4100 E. 29th St., Dugan said. The man was laying outside a car, and his girlfriend was with him.
Police began rendering aid, and the man was alert and talking, Dugan said. Paramedics with Tucson Fire arrived and continued aid before transferring him to a hospital where he died shortly after. His name has not been released.
Dugan said police determined the man was shot in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit are investigating.
Anyone with information is asked to call 88-CRIME. Dugan says even the smallest detail could help the investigation. Anonymous tips are accepted.
