A Tucson man has been sentenced to more than six years in prison after pleading guilty in May to smuggling methamphetamine and fentanyl across the Mexico border into Arizona, federal prosecutors say.

In August 2023, Slone Kelly was arrested after border agents found 50 packages of methamphetamine — about 52 pounds — and 29 packages of fentanyl — about 24 pounds — hidden in a 2008 Mercedes-Benz he was driving though the border crossing at Lukeville, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Arizona said in a news release.

Kelly, 29, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Scott H. Rash on Nov. 7, to 77 months in prison followed by 36 months of supervised release, the release said.
