An 80-year-old woman has died days after a two-vehicle crash in midtown, Tucson police say.

About 12:30 p.m. Oct. 20, Guadalupe Garcia was struck while turning left onto South Columbus Boulevard from eastbound East Broadway in a gold 2007 Ford Focus, Tucson police said in a news release.

The driver of a 2020 Ford Escape headed north on Columbus that collided with Garcia, Huntre Blake Shepherd, 22, was arrested on Oct. 30 on suspicion of aggravated assault, the release said. Shepherd suffered minor injuries.

Neither driver was impaired, police say, but the sequence of the traffic signal and speed were two of the main factors in the investigation, the release said.

Police learned Nov. 2 that Garcia had died at the hospital from her injuries. the release said.

Due to Garcia's death, Tucson police say the case will be presented to the Pima County Attorney’s Office for possible prosecution.
