A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder in the shooting death of a woman on Tucson's south side late last month, police said.
About 11:30 p.m. Sept.26, Lillian Gamboa, 31, was shot and killed outside a convenience store at the corner of West Irvington Road and South 12th Avenue, police say.
Several people were detained and questioned that night, but no arrest was initially made.
Investigators later learned that Liam Andrew Devoid was in the area that night.
Hours after the slaying Devoid reported to police that his car had been stolen about an hour prior to the shooting, police said Friday in a news release.
After questioning Devoid police arrested him on suspicion of murder, drive-by shooting and filing a false report with police, the release said.
He was booked into the Pima County jail.
Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of the shooting and ask anyone with information to call 88-CRIME, the anonymous tip line.
