Two men were arrested after a severely neglected horse was discovered on Tucsonโ€™s far south side.

The horse was discovered by the Pima County Sheriffโ€™s Department during an unrelated investigation. The animal showed sever signs of malnutrition and a detective alerted the agencyโ€™s community problems unit.

On Thursday at 8 a.m., authorities responded to the 10200 block of South Summit Peak Place, east of South Nogales Highway, to execute a search warrant related to the horse.

The horse was seized and taken to a local rescue for care and rehabilitation.

Favian Dominguez, 38, and 58-year-old Valentin Dominguez were arrested on suspicion of cruelty to animals.

The investigation is ongoing.
