A 42-year-old Tucson man is facing additional charges in connection with the September disappearance of his father, authorities say.

Vamsi Potiny, had been previously arrested on Sept. 3 on one count of vulnerable adult abuse and one count of endangerment following the Aug. 29 disappearance of his father, 72-year-old Sitharamanjaneyulu Potiny,the Pima County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.

After several days of searching for the missing man, and investigating the circumstances surrounding his disappearance, detectives established probable cause to arrest Vamsi Potiny, a PCSD news release says.

As the investigation continued, PCSD detectives found probable cause to upgrade Potiny’s charges, the release says.

On Dec. 9, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Vamsi Potiny on suspicion of manslaughter, kidnapping and abuse. He was booked into the Pima County jail.

The case will be forwarded to the Pima County Attorney’s Office for review and possible prosecution, the release said.
