A Tucson man stopped in a mobile barbershop carrying nearly 13 pounds of cocaine has been sentenced to five years in prison, state prosecutors say.
Ismael Alejandro Ortiz was sentenced Thursday in Pima County Superior Court to five years in prison, the Arizona Attorney General's Office said in a news release.
On July 29, Ortiz attempted to knowingly transport about 12.9 pounds of cocaine for sale, using a mobile barbershop bus as cover to arrive at the drug deal location, the release said. The deal was facilitated on WhatsApp, a social media platform.
Ortiz pleaded guilty to a felony count of attempt to transport a narcotic drug for sale, the release said.
