A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder in the killing of his father, Tucson police say.

Piero A. Hernandez was apprehended by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents after they were notified by Tucson police that he might be trying to flee the county, police said in a news release.

The body of Jorge Hernandez, 58, was found Thursday at the mobile home park where he lived in the 3800 block of North Fairview Avenue, the release said.

Family members called police after finding his body when they went to his home to check on Hernandez after he failed to go to work, the release said.

The initial investigation implicated the younger Hernandez.

Investigators said they learned Piero Hernandez was on his way to catch a flight at Los Angeles International Airport. Federal authorities were contacted, and Hernandez was apprehended at the gate without incident, the release said.

Later, police learned Piero Hernandez had a gunshot wound, the release said.

He was jailed in Los Angeles and is awaiting extradition to Tucson.
