The arrest of a man on suspicion of first-degree murder this week started after a man was pulled from the pool of a house in Sahuarita, authorities say.

On Sept. 14, Paul Baillargeon, 58, died after he was reportedly found face-down in a pool at a house in the 900 Block of East Madera Estates, a complaint filed in Pima County Justice Court says.

Davis Lee Crowell, 33, is jailed on suspicion of first-degree murder in connection with the death. Bond was set at $250,000.

Prior to Baillargeon being discovered, his partner, Crowell's dad, told police he noticed his son enter the home partially clothed and wet.

The father told police Crowellโ€™s behavior and mannerisms were odd, the complaint says.ย

He told police he remained near the back door until Baillargeon arrived home. The two had a brief discussion about an object in the pool, and Baillargeon went outside to check on it.

About 10 minutes later, a wet Crowell entered the home through the sliding glass door. It was then that the father told police he noticed Baillargeon in the pool, according to the complaint.

Family members pulled Baillargeon from the pool and began life-saving measures. During this time, Crowell changed out of his wet clothes and left the home on foot, the complaint says.

He was later apprehended by police.

Police said Crowell had abrasions on his knee, and scratches and redness on his chest and back.
