A driver is facing criminal charges after authorities say he struck and killed an 11-month-old infant being pushed across the street in a stroller Tuesday night on Tucson's northwest side.
The infant was struck about 8:30 p.m. at West Ruthrauff Road and North Kain Avenue, west of North La Cholla Boulevard, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.
The unidentified infant and Marquese Reese, 34, were taken to the hospital. Reese had minor injuries but the infant died, the release said.
Reese, accompanied by two adults, was pushing the stroller across Ruthrauff when an eastbound vehicle struck the pair, the release said.
The driver, Colton Ortiz, was jailed in suspicion of manslaughter, aggravated assault and aggravated driving under the influence, the release said.
The investigation is ongoing.
