STK emergency

A 38-year-old man has died days after Tucson police say he was struck by an impaired driver while crossing a midtown street against traffic.

In the crash just before 3:00 a.m. Nov. 24, Jonathan Paul Mitchell was struck by a northbound 2017 Nissan Rogue as he crossed North Alvernon Way at East Pima Street, police said in a news release.

Police were notified Friday of Mitchell's death.

The unidentified driver stopped immediately after the crash. Investigators later determined the driver was impaired and also noted that drug paraphernalia was found near Mitchell, the release said.

Charges are pending, police said.
