A woman walking on West Valencia Road early Tuesday was stuck and killed in a hit-and-run crash, Tucson police said.
Adriana Patricia Mada, 41, was walking about 4:15 a.m. in the 900 block of West Valencia near Interstate 19 when she was struck by what police think was a dark-coloredΒ pickup truck.
According to officials, Mada was struck while walking east on the south side of the overpass. The pickup truck, travelling north on the Interstate 19 off-ramp, attempted to turn left onto westbound Valencia.Β The vehicle had a green light as Mada crossed, officials said.
Crossing against the traffic signal is the contributing factor in Mada's death, officials said.Β She was pronounced dead at the crash scene.
The driver fled, police said.
Both lanes of Valencia were closed Tuesday morning at the interstate overpass, police said.
The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information to call 88-CRIME, the anonymous tip line.
