A man shot during a break-in at a smoke shop on Tucson's south side earlier this year has died, police said.
On Feb. 6 at 3:20 a.m., Tucson police were called to a smoke shop at 3553 S. 12th Ave., north of Ajo Way.
The business owner and another person were sleeping in the shop when they were startled by a large rock being thrown through a window, Tucson police said in a news release.
Two people entered the shop, at which time the owner got a gun and fired, striking 28-year-old Ernesto Felix while the other person got away, police said.
Felix was taken to a hospital where he underwent surgery and was placed on life support. On July 18, the Tucson Police Department was notified that Felix died from his injuries.
The second suspect has not been caught and police ask that anyone with information call 88-CRIME, the anonymous tip line.
The case is now being investigated by homicide detectives and will be presented to the Pima County Attorney's Office.
