Sayed Khilwati, Ruben Pereida and Hakim Rahim

Tucson police arrested three men Monday night who are suspected of selling the illegal drug "spice" out of a local smoke shop, authorities said.

Over the past two months, Tucson Police Department received reports that The Up in Clouds Smoke Shop,Β located in the area of North Stone Avenue and East Fort Lowell Road, was illegally selling spice, said Sgt. Kimberly Bay, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman.

The drug, which is commonly sold in small packages in smoke shops, gas stations and neighborhood stores, mimics THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana.

Tucson police and the Counter Narcotics Alliance served a warrant at the shop Monday night, and arrested 19-year-old Sayed Khilwati andΒ 22-year-old Ruben Pereida without incident, Bay said.

A third suspect, 26-year-old Hakim Rahim, was located during a traffic stop.

All three men were booked into the Pima County jail in connection with charges of possession of a dangerous drug and possession of a dangerous drug for sale, both felonies, Bay said.
