A three-vehicle crash in Tucson's midtown Wednesday shut down a portion of North Columbus Boulevard, south of East Speedway.

A woman, who was driving one car, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, said Sgt. Kimberly Bay, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman.

A man driving a second car also was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Bay said.

Both cars collided and one of the vehicle's struck an unoccupied parked car.

It appears speed an alcohol were factors in the crash, said Bay.

No further information about the collision was immediately available.

Columbus is expected to remained shut down in both directions from Speedway to East Fifth Street for several hours Wednesday night, said Bay.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
