Police tape

Tucson police detectives are investigating the shooting of a woman who died in her home on the city's south side Tuesday.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m., police responded to a report of a shooting in the 300 block of West Inez Drive, said Sgt. Kimberly Bay, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman.

The neighborhood is east of South 12th Avenue and north of West Los Reales Road.

Officers found the woman inside her home with gunshot trauma. Tucson Fire Department paramedics treated the woman, but she was pronounced dead at the scene, Bay said.

Detectives are talking to the man who called 911 to report the incident. He knows the woman and was cooperating with investigators, said Bay.

At this point, the death is being classified as suspicious, Bay said.

No further information was immediately available. Β
