The Humane Society of Southern Arizona is asking for the public's help in identifying a man who broke into the group's Tucson thrift store and stole donation money, officials said.

Shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 23, a rock was thrown through the window of the Humane Society's Thrift Store, 5311 E. Speedway Blvd., said spokeswoman Vanessa Ford.

The suspect entered through the window and ran directly to the store's front counter, breaking off the plastic donation boxes and leaving with the cash, which was collected to help fund the construction of the Humane Society's new campus on West Roger Road, Ford said.

The suspect was caught on surveillance video, and appears to be wearing camouflage pants and a white long-sleeved shirt. He's believed to be between 40 and 50-years-old, Ford said.

Although nothing else was stolen, authorities found damage to the donation drop-off entrance, leading them to believe the suspect initially tried to get in that way, Ford said.

Anyone with information is asked to call 88-CRIME.
