Pima County Sheriff's deputies arrested two people Thursday in connection to break-ins of multiple houses and vehicles on Tucson's northwest side.

Mathew Schreiber, 19, and Sydney Lupo, 21, were booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of multiple burglary charges, said Deputy Cody Gress, a sheriff's department spokesman.

Detectives said Schreiber and Lupo were boyfriend and girlfriend.

Schreiber faces 13 counts of burglary, possession of a dangerous drug and possession of marijuana. Lupo faces 14 counts of burglary, Gress said.

Investigators are working in partnership with the Marana Police Department to determine if Schreiber and Lupo are connected to a rash of vehicle break-ins in Marana, said Gress.

On Thursday shortly after 5 a.m., deputies responded to the 4700 block of West Snowberry Lane for a report of a theft in progress.

The neighborhood is west of North Thornydale Road and north of West Cortaro Farms Road.

Deputies learned that a homeowner saw a man breaking into his car and he chased the man away from his house. During a search of the neighborhood, deputies found a woman riding a bicycle and learned that she was involved in the theft and the man was her boyfriend, Gress said.

A vehicle that both suspects were using was found in the neighborhood, and the boyfriend was taken into custody near the vehicle. Deputies found items in the vehicle that appeared to have been stolen from residences in the area, said Gress.
