Tucson police arrested a suspect in connection of the homicide and armed robbery of an "associate," authorities said.

Tucson Fire Department arrived at a home in the 3500 block of East 3rd Street shortly before 11 p.m. Monday after receiving a Lifeline Alert for emergency medical assistance, said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

Firefighters found a deceased man inside the home with obvious signs of trauma and notified police of the event, Dugan said.

Homicide detectives learned that the victim, identified as 46-year-old Mitchell Smith, lived alone and that his car was missing from the home. Shortly after, a TPD K9 officer found the car nearby and the suspect, 48-year-old Scott Baucom, was also located in the area, Dugan said.

Police found property belonging to the victim in Baucom's possession and booked him into the Pima County jail on charges of first-degree murder and armed robbery, Dugan said.

The victim has been identified as 46-year-old Mitchell Smith. Next of kin has been notified.
