Detectives with the Pima County Sheriff's Fugitive Investigative Strike Team arrested two men Thursday in connection to separate domestic violence incidents.
At 11 a.m., authorities learned that John Lackey, 41, who was wanted in a domestic violence incident that occurred Sept. 12, was at a residence in the 11000 block of North Carbine Road, said Deputy Cody Gress, a sheriff's department spokesman.
When deputies and detectives arrived at the home, Lackey ran into a desert area where he was captured and later booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of domestic violence assault, unlawful flight, criminal damage, hit-and-run and driving on a suspended license, Gress said.
The charges stemmed from the Sept. 12 incident that occurred shortly after 2 p.m. at the Dollar General store at 12355 N. Trico Road, said Gress.
Deputies responded to the store and found a man and woman arguing inside a car. The woman climbed out of the car, and the man, who was later identified as Lackey, side-swiped a deputy's patrol vehicle as he drove off from the scene, Gress said. He said deputies pursued the car, but the chase ended because of safety concerns.
Detectives later obtained information that led to Lackey on North Carbine Road and to his arrest.
Earlier Thursday, while authorities were searching for Lackey, they located Poleman Hayter, 25, and associate of Lackey's in a home in the 17000 block of West Redrock Lane, Gress said.
Hayter was wanted on arrest warrants, including a probation violation for domestic violence. Hayter brandished a weapon and barricaded himself inside the home, said Gress. After detectives and deputies negotiated with Hayter for more than an hour, Hayter came out of the home and he was taken into custody.
Hayter was booked into jail on his outstanding warrants, said Gress.
