A 37-year-old man from Sells was sentenced Tuesday to nearly two years in federal prison in the stabbing of a man on the Tohono O'odham Nation.
George Frias IV was sentenced to 21 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Cindy K. Jorgenson, according to a news release.
Frias had previously pleaded guilty in federal court to aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon, and had served one year in tribal custody for the same crime, states the release.
On July 13, 2014, Frias was arrested in the stabbing of a man following an argument. The victim, who also is Tohono O'odham, suffered non-life threatening injuries, authorities said.
Tohono O'odham Police Department officers and the Federal Bureau of Investigation agents conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Micah Schmit prosecuted the case.Â
