The driver was killed when this minivan rolled over in the Vail area on March 7, 2016.

The driver of a minivan was killed late Monday in a rollover crash on the southeast side.

Pima County sheriff's deputies were called to the scene of the crash at about 11 p.m. at East Mokes Mile Trail and South Sharon Road, in the Vail area south of Interstate 10.

There, they found a minivan that had rolled over and two occupants who had suffered serious injuries.

The driver, James Edward Cook, 47, succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. The other occupant was taken to Banner-University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators determined the van was southbound on South Sharon Road and attempted to make a left turn onto East Mokes Mile Trail but was going too fast. The van rolled and the passenger was ejected and Cook was partially ejected.

Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt.
