UA's Eller College moves up in biz-school rankings

The UA's Eller College of Management is housed in McClelland Hall.

Two fake bombs used in a research project related to national security prompted the evacuation today on campus.

The discovery of the devices at McClelland Hall, 1130 E. Helen St., home to the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management, led to an evacuation about noon Tuesday, police said.

Campus and the Tucson police bomb squad later determined the devices were harmless.

“The objects, which resemble pipe bombs, are used as part of a research project on national security. They were left unattended in a research laboratory, where they were discovered and reported,” UA Police said in a news release later Tuesday.

“UAPD plans to work with the researchers to prevent a recurrence of the event.”
