Pima County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Chris Radtke has been charged with seven felonies related to conspiracy and embezzlement of county funds, newly released court documents show.

The Sept. 28 indictment from the U.S. Attorney's Office, which was unsealed on Wednesday, says that from 2011 to 2016, Radtke embezzled at least $500,000 from the Sheriff's Auxiliary Volunteers fund.

Radtke resigned from the department on Monday, after a months-long FBI investigation into misappropriation of public funds that begin after theΒ Star published an article about Radtke’s niece taking over the operation of a cafe inside the department’s headquarters in 2012.
