lights and sirens

A deadly shooting on Tucson’s southwest side Sunday evening continues to be investigated this morning, officials say.

The case started about 5 p.m. when a man called 911 and said he had just shot someone, Deputy Ryan Inglett, a Pima County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said in a news release.

Deputies found the wounded man in the 7200 block of South Cardinal Avenue, near West Los Reales Road. He died later at the hospital. The shooter and another person were initially detained at the scene.

Detectives say the gunman was working as the caretaker for the property where the shooting occurred.

The man who was shot was armed with a revolver.

No one has been taken into custody in connection with the case and no further details were immediately available.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
