Alan Rodelo-Velasquez

A man is facing first-degree murder in a fatal shooting last year on Tucson's southeast side.

Alan Rodelo-Velasquez, 30, was taken into custody Thursday by officers who were investigating an unrelated matter, said Sgt. Kimberly Bay, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman.

Rodelo-Velasquez was booked into the Pima County jail without incident. He is a suspect in the Sept. 11, 2015 slaying of Daniel Gordon, 42, who died in a house in the 2400 block of South Adventure Trail, Bay said.

The neighborhood is east of South Harrison Road and north of East Golf Links Road.Β

Homicide detectives learned that Gordon was packaging and shipping marijuana out of his home, said Bay.

Forensic evidence at the house identified Rodelo-Velasquez as a suspect in Gordon's slaying. During the initial investigation, detectives determined that multiple persons broke into Gordon's house, and a shootout occurred between Gordon and the intruders, Bay said.

Detectives are continuing the investigation and ask that anyone with information call 88-CRIME, the anonymous tipster hotline.
