A man was shot in a wash area on Tucson's south side Wednesday afternoon and police are searching for the shooter.
The injured man suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken by Tucson Fire Department paramedics to a hospital, said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.
Police responded to the 5700 block of South 12th Avenue at 3 p.m. to a report of a shooting, and found the injured man who said he was shot by a man in the wash area, Dugan said.
La Paloma Academy, 5660 S. 12th Avenue, was placed on lockdown while police searched for the man. The lockdown has been lifted.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area for more than an hour.
South 12th Avenue has re-opened in both directions near Calle Ramona, which is south of West Drexel Road.
