Tohono O'odham police are investigating a body that was found hanging from a tree Wednesday near the village of Santa Cruz, officials said.
Air Interdiction agents aboard an Air and Marine Operations helicopter reported seeing what they believed to be a deceased individual hanging from a tree and Border Patrol agents on the ground were able to confirm their suspicions, according to a news release from the Tucson sector U.S. Customs and Border Protections.
Agents held the scene until Tohono O'odham police arrived and took charge of the investigation, the release said.
No further information is available and anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the Tohono O'odham Police Department at 383-3275.
