A Tucson man is facing between 10 and 37 years in prison after admitting he killed a man in July 2010.
William Gary Potter, 56, pleaded guilty this week to second-degree murder and two counts of possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited possessor.
Pima County Superior Court Judge Christopher Browning will sentence him June 4.
Randall Scott Pfeil, 50, was shot twice in the head in July 2010. His body was found in a pit used to dispose of trash on Potter’s property south of Three Points, according to court documents.
Pima County sheriff's deputies discovered Pfeil's body as part of a missing-persons investigation after Pfeil's truck was found abandoned about two miles from the Potters’ home, court records show.
Deputies checked Pfeil’s phone records and found he’d last received a call from a phone owned by Potter, who is a former head of Tucson’s chapter of the Hells Angels motorcycle club.
When deputies went to the Potter home they were not given permission to search the property, but after getting a search warrant they found an area of disturbed ground, court records show.
Pfeil’s body was found a short time later, buried underneath several trash bags.
