crime scene tape

Tucson police identified the man stabbed to death on Tuesday night in midtown as Marcus Andrew Tellez, 40.

At about 9:45 p.m., police responded to reports of a stabbing at an apartment complex located at 3201 East Seneca Street, in the area of North Country Club and East Grant Road, said Sgt. Kimberly Bay, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman.

Officers located a man with obvious signs of trauma and began rendering first aid until paramedics with the Tucson Fire Department arrived to transport the man to the hospital. He was transported to Banner-University Medical Center, but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased after arrival, Bay said.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene and are still interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence. While police haven't identified a suspect, it appears that the person or persons responsible were known to the victim, Bay said.

It was not a random act, police said earlier.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
