Tucson police are investigating a midtown shooting that left one man dead early Sunday morning.

The incident occurred in a parking lot of 725 South Tucson Blvd., just before 5 a.m. Police were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of a shooting in the area.

Upon arrival officers discovered a man in his 20s lying on the ground with obvious signs of gunshot trauma; they quickly began to render first aid.

Tucson fire responded to assist, however the man was pronounced dead at the scene, said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a Tucson police spokesman, in a press release.

Homicide and gang detectives are continuing the investigation.Β 

There is currently no one in custody.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call 911 or 88-CRIME

The victim's name is being withheld until next of kin is notified.
