Tucson Police Department detectives were investigating a homicide in the 5600 block of East 26th Street Oct. 16, 2016.

A wounded homeowner shot and killed a man who broke into his home Sunday, police said.

The dead man, identified as Ryan Johnson, 23,Β had fought and shot his brother and the homeowner, who both lived at the house, before Johnson was killed, according to a Tucson Police Department Facebook post Monday.

According to police:

Shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 5600 block of East 26th Street. The neighborhood is south of East 22nd Street and east of South Craycroft Road.

When officers arrived, they found three men who suffered gunshot wounds. Officers gave medical aid to the men and called for Tucson Fire Department paramedics.

Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two men suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to a hospital.

Detectives learned that Johnson went to the house and he, his brother, and the homeowner were talking outdoors and then began fighting. During the fight, Johnson pulled out a handgun and shot his brother and the homeowner.

The homeowner went into the house, closed the door and got a gun. A short time later, Johnson, who was still armed with a gun, forced his way into the house. The homeowner fired his weapon several times, striking Johnson.

Once the investigation is completed, the case will be presented to the Pima County Attorney's Office for review.

Detectives ask that anyone with information call 88-CRIME, an anonymous tipster hotline.Β
