A woman struck by a vehicle Thursday night in Marana and who later died at a hospital was identified as Clarissa Marie Ballesteros.

Ballesteros, 22, of Tucson, is the first pedestrian fatality in the Town of Marana since 2011, said Sgt. Chris Warren, a Marana Police Department spokesman. Β Β

Traffic detectives learned that Ballesteros was walking in a marked crosswalk on West Ina Road at North Meredith Boulevard when she was struck by a 2007 Dodge truck shortly before 8 p.m., Warren said.

Ballesteros was taken to Banner-University Medical Center Tucson, and died shortly after her arrival, Warren said.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with traffic detectives, said Warren.

He said the driver was making a left turn onto westbound Ina Road from Meredith. Meredith is east of North Thornydale Road.

The investigation is continuing.
